Hi Everyone,
I have really enjoyed hearing about all of your experiences with this technique. In response to some questions and suggestions I have received, I would like to add the following:
Firstly, wooden wick candles are now in Target. They come in many different scents and are reasonably priced. Organic bubble bath can be purchased at a local healthfood store or Wholefoods.
Secondly, if you have never meditated before or find that your mind is running like a dog in a hen house, this technique will invite you to a taste of what being quiet feels like. It may only last a few seconds for you but once you've tasted it, you will want to go back for more.
When I first started to meditate, my thoughts were also very distracting. For me, I have found that it is best to just let them race through your head. Sit quietly and just let the thoughts go wild. In time they will quiet and a moment of silent realization comes. The more you do it, the easier it will become to quiet your mind. Then you can start practicing it while you are going about your daily life. It's a process.
Lastly I want to remind you that there are many ways to approach meditation. What I am offering is just a suggestion. I encourage you to continue searching until you find something that works for you.
Keep in mind why you are embracing meditation. When you connect with your inner light, you gain insight and solutions to the road blocks of your life. You become more grounded in the awareness of self and in the process become less concerned about what others are telling you to do and more focused on listening to your own heart.
I believe it is time well spent.
Enjoy!
