P~P~S Success Weekly Bulletin Monday, October 23, 2006. Paul's thought of the week: Did you know that less than 3% of all people have clear, written goals? Succeed by Writing Down Your Goals! That’s right, according to Bryan Tracy, less than 3% of all people have clear, written goals and less than 1% of all people reviews and re-write their goals on a regular basis. That simple fact is especially surprising when science shows us that the simple act of writing out your goals may be an important key to success. Here’s one example. In 1963, the Harvard Business School asked 100 freshmen if they each had a list of written goals they wanted to achieve in their lifetime. Only SEVEN students said they did. 20 years later, a follow-up survey showed that only 10% of those original 100 students had successfully attained what they wanted in life. Remarkably, all 7 of the students with written goals were in that 10%. Why is writing out goals so important? Genuine creation always progress in three phases: from thought to word and finally to deed. Writing your goals down is perhaps the most important step in creation because it helps you to gather the necessary resources for your goal and to formulate the plans to achieve those goals. It gives you the opportunity to review the steps necessary to achieve that goal before your take action and avoid problems that could derail your efforts. All of this means you will greatly improve your chances to reach your goals before you even begin to take action. So this week, set yourself on the path to success by writing out your daily goals.
