Who are the best doctors to consult when you are ill?Don’t Ask Your Doctors What You Should Take, Ask Them What You Should Take Away!
23 years of working with clients in the fitness field has taught me a lot about how people view pain. As drug companies become better and better at selling their products, we become more and more obsessed with simply finding the right concoction of pills to deal with our ailments. This is the treatment mindset and it’s rarely concerned with getting at the root cause of our problems.If we want to be able to attain a life of wellbeing, we need to go back a few thousand years and look at how the ancient Greek doctors treated their patients. Greek physicians knew that if a person was not happy, their chances of illness would go up. They also knew that if a person did not have enough quiet in their life, their chances of illness would go up. Finally, they knew well that diet was a major factor in health and vitality. A sick person who went to a physician in that time period was always assessed according to how well they lived in accordance with the principles of Dr. Happiness, Dr. Quiet and Dr. Diet. When reading about their philosophy, it occurred to me that everything in nature has natural movement patterns. Disruption of those patterns can lead to illness and so I added the fourth doctor, Dr. Movement. In 23 years I haven’t run into a patient whose problems weren’t rooted in some variation of a lack of diet, self-time, happiness or movement.
What I’ve discovered is that very few people need more in their lives. There’s rarely a need for pills, creams or shots. Rather, people usually need to remove something that isn’t contributing to their objectives. How do you know what to change or remove? You won’t find the answer at any clinic where doctors are trained and paid to give you something for “your disease.” The only doctors you need to consult are the four doctors I’ve talked about here!
This week, improve your health by asking the four doctors that live within you what they need. If you do this, you will find yourself healthy, happy and successful!
