P~P~S Success Weekly Bulletin Monday, December 11, 2006. Paul's thought of the week: How effective can you be at managing your professional life if you aren’t healthy? Smart Business Management Many business seminars out there today teach that if you want to be successful in business, you have to put in at least 60 hours a week at the office. Of course we all want to succeed in our profession, but working 60 hours a week can be a disaster for both your business and your health. I can’t tell you how many clients I’ve seen suffering from digestive problems, back aches, chronic fatigue and all sorts of other stress related symptoms simply because they’re trying to meet the perceived demands of making their business successful. The fact is that none of these people were nearly as effective as they could have been had they cut out the extra 20 hours of work and used that time to take care of themselves! Effective business management begins with effective self-management. Each of your days should be founded on a diet of organic food, plenty of water and eight hours of sleep. Regular movement and personal time are also essentials for a healthy lifestyle. Following these simple recommendations will mean that your mind is clear enough to make the important decisions and you have the energy to see those decisions through to the end. In short, you’ll be at your very best when your business needs it the most. You will express more of yourself every hour and you will be more efficient. This week, improve your professional life by improving your personal life. Take the time to eat right, drink plenty of water and sleep right.
