Paul's thought of the week:
I have goals, but every time I set out to work on them, I get distracted. How can I stop procrastinating?Avoid procrastination with a better goal structure
Even when you are enthusiastic about your legacy and goals, it is still possible to find yourself procrastinating. Why is this? Procrastination is usually the result of a desire for short-term gratification. So when you procrastinate, you are actually avoiding what you really want for the sake of some quick satisfaction. Our society has grown full of instant gratifiers, and the unfortunate consequence is that this has lead to a society where many of us sustain ourselves on illusions rather than pursuing and living our life's dream.Since so many of our ultimate goals are longer-term, they can fail to motivate us right now. That's when procrastination creeps in. The next time you find yourself avoiding some work on your long-term goals, try this tip:
It's very important to create short-term goals that are more quickly and easily achieved, but still lead toward the attainment of your longer-range goals. This way you can fulfill your need for immediate satisfaction through the completion of these smaller goals, but keep on track and reach your ultimate goals as well!
Enjoy the holidays and live your legacy!
~Paul Chek
